Social Emotional
Essential to leadership development is Leader in Me’s unique approach to the application of effective social and emotional skills in real-life situations and student-led learning. The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), the world's leading organization in the practice of promoting integrated academic, social, and emotional learning for all children, conducted an extensive review of Leader in Me. CASEL determined that the Leader in Me training, support, and materials offer their highest level of support to schools across all five of their recognized settings; classroom, school, family, community, and general. As a result of their review and the research evidence, CASEL endorsed Leader in Me as a recommended evidence-based social-emotional learning (SEL) solution.
While Leader in Me and CASEL Competencies have different names, their underlying outcomes are so closely related that as Leader in Me students develop leadership competencies, they are also developing CASEL’s competencies. This aligned development provides students with the skills needed to be lifelong learners and Life-Ready Leaders.
