Interdistrict Petition Update: Renewals Now Required Every 5 Years
Based on a decision by the Imperial County Office of Education and Imperial County school superintendents, interdistrict petitions will now require a renewal every five years.
RETURNING INTERDISTRICT PETITIONS:
An "Interdistrict Attendance, Academic, and Behavior Contract Form" will be sent to parents/guardians annually during the summer for signature via ParentSquare. Returning interdistricts will be reviewed each year during the summer for attendance, tardies, or discipline issues for the following school year prior to approval/denial.
Two (2) current utility bills will be required when parents update their child's registration through their Aeries Parent Portal for the 2025-2026 school year during the summer months.
INITIAL INTERDISTRICT PETITIONS:
If a student moves to a different district of residence OR onto high school, they must submit a new interdistrict as an "initial" petition. Initial petitions for new students, as well as five-year renewals, will now require two (2) current proofs of residency attached to the interdistrict petition when submitted to the district of residence for release. Petitions without two current proofs of residency will NOT be released.
INTERDISTRICT ATTENDANCE, ACADEMIC, AND BEHAVIOR CONTRACT
Prior to the approval of an incoming interdistrict student, the parent/guardian will be given an Interdistrict Attendance, Academic, and Behavior Contract to sign as an understanding of the conditions and expectations when attending on an interdistrict petition. The Interdistrict Contract will be sent to parents/guardians via ParentSquare for renewal on a yearly basis each summer.
