Good Evening, McCabe Families,
The purpose of this document is to inform you of the requirements established by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) health safety guidelines, including masking, exemption from masking and other safety protocols.
McCabe Union Elementary School District is required to follow CDPH guidelines; masks must be worn by all individuals while they are in school buildings at the District. This applies to students, faculty, staff and visitors regardless of vaccination status.
Furthermore, pursuant to CDPH guidelines, masks are not required to be worn at any time by any individual (student, faculty, staff and visitors) who is described by one of the conditions below:
- Persons younger than two years old.
- Persons with proof, from a medical provider, of a medical condition, mental health condition, or disability that prevents wearing a mask. This includes persons with a medical condition for whom wearing a mask could obstruct breathing.
- Persons who are hearing impaired, or communicating with a person who is hearing impaired, where the ability to see the mouth is essential for communication.
- Persons for whom wearing a mask would create a risk to the person related to their work, as determined by local, state, or federal regulators or workplace safety guidelines.
Furthermore, pursuant to CDPH guidelines, persons exempted from wearing a face covering due to a medical condition, must wear a non-restrictive alternative, such as a face shield with a drape on the bottom edge, unless the exempting condition does not permit it.
Finally, students, faculty, staff and visitors will be expected to follow appropriate health protocols such as self-screening.
