The McCabe staff took to the streets for their first McCabe Parade!

The McCabe staff and administration started their day early on March 31st as they began to parade through the streets of El Centro while waving and honking to the cheers of their students (and emotionally tearful parents) as they stood outside of their homes with signs and chalked driveways. Even Leo the Lion and the El Centro Police Department took park in the excitement! Thank you to our McCabe community for your support while we all continue to practice social distancing. 1st Grade Parent Email re: Distance Learning Resources

Good Morning 1st Grade McCabe Families, In light of the school closure due to the COVID-19 virus, we have met as a team to assemble resources that will provide opportunities for your children to continue their education through distance learning. Please see attachments at the bottom of this email for Think Central login information as well as a list of resources in What To Do During School Closure. During this time, our administrative team and teaching staff are available to help facilitate your child's learning. The McCabe Union Elementary School District has assembled an array of resources to engage students, including English Learners, Gifted Learners, and Students with Disabilities in distance learning. The resources posted on our website are intended to support parents, guardians, and families with access to high-quality educational opportunities for students to continue their learning at home during the COVID-19 school closure. Parent Email re: Joint Notice of Countywide Closure of All Public Schools

The McCabe Union Elementary School District is committed to keeping our families up-to-date with information on COVID-19 as we receive guidance from the California Department of Public Health, Imperial County Public Health Department, and Imperial County Office of Education. After long and careful deliberation, and in collaboration with other surrounding districts, we have determined it is best to temporarily close our schools to protect the health and well-being of our students and staff as we try to help slow the spread of COVID-19. All Imperial County schools will be closed from Monday, March 17 through Friday April 17, 2020. We will continue to keep you informed as we receive guidance from public health officials and the Imperial County Office of Education. Continue to watch for email notifications and website updates. ICAPCD Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on November 21, 2019

Thank you to the Imperial County Air Pollution Control District, the Imperial Valley Board of Supervisors, Representative from Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia's office, Rove Engineering (Steve Eugenio), AACE Sales (Tom Whalen), Imperial Irrigation District, ICOE Superintendent Dr. Todd Finnell, McCabe Board Members, McCabe drum line, and Mrs. Strahm's 1st grade class for participating in the November 21st ribbon cutting ceremony for McCabe's dust abatement project and South lot. McCabe is appreciative of its Imperial Valley community for providing our McCabe students with cleaner air!

Mrs. Jones' 3rd Grade Class Burrowing Owls Drawing Winners

Mrs. Jones' 3rd grade class was selected by the IID to participate in an educational program to learn about Burrowing Owls. An IID biologist came to teach her class about the owls, their habitats, their diets, and their ways of life. Her class then drew pictures of the Burrowing Owls which were submitted to the IID for judging. Four students’ drawings were chosen to be published in the Imperial Valley ALIVE magazine. All of the students’ drawings were placed online. The kids really enjoyed the experience!

Unhealthy Air Quality Alert - October 30, 2019

This email is to notify our McCabe community of an unhealthy air quality alert for the morning of Wednesday, October 30, 2019.
Students will be housed in the gym and multipurpose rooms during normal outside play time to limit outdoor activities.
We will continue to check the air quality throughout the day for updates.
